How to Get Your Real Estate License

The very first step to beginning your real estate career is to get your real estate license.

New Hampshire

New_Hampshire_sm.gif Candidates for the salesperson's examination shall show proof of completion of 40 hours of approved study. Evidence of beginning and successfully completing 40 hours of accredited pre-licensing education may be submitted consisting of a  New Hampshire accredited pre-licensing course with a minimum of 32 hours of classroom attendance and no more than 8 hours of distance education within 1 year prior to the date of examination.

New Hampshire Licensing Requirements

Massachusetts

Massachusetts_sm.gifTo obtain a broker or salesperson license an individual must complete required education and pass a written examination and pay the prescribed fee within 30 days from the date of notification. A salesperson seeking licensure as a real estate broker must:

  • Be employed or affiliated with a licensed real estate broker for at least one year.
  • Be employed or affiliated with such licensed real estate broker for a minimum of 25 hours per calendar week under the supervision of such broker.
  • Obtain licensure as a real estate broker within two years of the date that such employment or affiliation as a real estate salesperson is terminated.

An individual must also submit recommendations by three people, not related to the applicant, who live in or conduct business in the Commonwealth that certify that the individual bears a good reputation for honesty and fair dealing.

Massachusetts Licensing Requirements

Maine

  • Completed License Application
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be at least 18 at time of application for the license.
  • Complete the Sales Agent course with a minimum final grade of 75%;
  • Pass the sales agent licensing examination with a minumum final grade of 75% within one year of passing the Sales Agent course.
