Bedford is located fifty miles north of Boston and adjacent to the state’s largest city, of Manchester. With a population of about 22,000 the community is viewed by many as an upscale residential town. Founded in 1750, the town has a total area of 33.1 square miles of which the majority is residentially zoned. For shopping convenience, many major retailers such as Macy’s, Bob’s Store, Walmart, Target and Lowes are located in Bedford.

BEDFORD PUBLIC LIBRARY: Located on Meetinghouse Road the facility prides itself on family programming including film nights, story hours and book discussion groups.

MARCONI FOUNDATION & MUSEUM: Located at 18 North Amherst Road the museum first opened in 1994 by founder Dick Marconi. This Non-Profit Automotive Museum and Special Event Venue displays an impressive 30 million-dollar collection of historical, exotic, and classic cars. Our collection includes, but is not limited to, Super Bikes, Open Wheel Racing Cars (both Formula 1 and Indy), American Muscle Cars, Vintage Racing and High Performance Exotics.

Police Department: Bedford Police Department is made up of more than 30 full-time and part-time officers and provides service 24-hours a day.

Fire Department: The Bedford Department is commanded by Chief Scott Wiggin and has one station which is strategically located on Route 101, one of the busiest roadways in town. Twenty five full-time firefighters work a rotating shift schedule along with four Lieutenants. Bedford also has a call force of ten members including three officers that also provide fire and EMS protection for the town.

The school system: The Bedford School District is a 4,360 student school district located in Bedford, NH, a suburb of Manchester, NH. The district is comprised of six schools - three elementary (grades K-4); an intermediate school (grades 5 and 6); a middle school (grades 7 and 8) and a high school (grades 9 through 11). The district was reorganized in 2007 after the construction of a new middle school and high school. The Lurgio Middle School and Bedford High School comprise one 300,000 square foot building. This was done to save on costs (shared kitchen, auditorium, security), but they operate as separate schools with different entrances, bus schedules, start times and end times. Additionally, key-controlled access is required to move between schools.
