Londonderry, NH

The town of Londonderry is located less than an hour drive north of Boston and is nestled between the city of Manchester and the town of Derry. It is known for its apple orchards, an excellent school system and residents who are proactive in preserving thousands of acres of open space and encouraging land use practices that promote a healthy suburban lifestyle. The town was settled in 1718 by Scots-Irish settlers, many who originated from a town of Londonderry located in Northern Ireland. In 1722, the town was chartered and officially given the name "Londonderry”.

This picturesque suburban community has a total area of 41.9 square miles and offers it residents the natural beauty found outside of city living, but it is located a stones throw away from the state’s largest city of Manchester. It is home to 24,729 residents and is home to numerous businesses, many of which are located in the northern part of the town near the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport. Major businesses headquartered in town include Stoneyfield Farm, Blue Seal Feeds and a Coca-Cola Bottling facility. Apple orchards include: Mack's Apples, Sunnycrest Farm, Elwood Orchards, and Woodmont Orchards.

With easy access to Interstate 93, Route 102 ad 128 as well as Route 28, there are several major highways connecting it to Boston or major points north like Concord. Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is, in part, located in Londonderry. Boston’s Logan airport is an easy commute for other options for air-travel.

LEACH LIBRARY: Conveniently located in the center of town next to the town offices and across from several schools, The Leach Library offers cultural activities and experiences through museum passes, art displays, and interesting programs for all ages. LONDONDERRY COUNTRY CLUB: Londonderry Country Club is an 18-hole executive length golf course. Offering a short layout and provides a fun golf outing for everyone.

MUSQUASH CONSERVATION AREA: Offers more than 800 acres of trails, which are well marked and are ideal terrain for intermediate hiking.

Police Department: Uniformed patrol, also referred to as the Patrol Division, is the backbone of the police department. The Londonderry Police Department has approximately 42 officers within the uniformed operations division (UOD). The UOD handles most of the day-to-day calls for service that come into the department and is also responsible for routine proactive patrol of the town.

Fire Department: Londonderry Fire Department staffs three fire stations located throughout the community and maintains on-duty personnel round the clock dedicated to protecting town residents and business owners.

The school system: The Londonderry School System includes Kindergarten at Moose Hill School (includes LEEP, the Londonderry Early Education Program).

Elementary Schools: North School, Matthew Thornton Elementary School, South School

Its Middle School is known as Londonderry Middle School and grades 9-12 attend Londonderry High School (home of the Lancers), known for its exceptional marching band program, which traveled to China in the summer of 2008 to participate in pre-ceremonies for the Olympic games.

Colleges: Located within the community is Hesser College, Southern New Hampshire University (Salem satellite campus), American College of History and Legal Studies. Also within easy commuting distance are Nashua Community College, Saint Anselm College, University of New Hampshire at Manchester, Daniel Webster College as well as Boston colleges and universities.
