Our Belmont office stepped back in time to the age of jazz and flappers at the Silver Spring Gala last weekend to benefit New Beginnings – Without Violence and Abuse. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Verani Realty participated in a sponsorship for the event through its philanthropic and social development initiative, VeraniCARES.

New Beginnings is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence through services, community education, and prevention work. Their services include a 24-hour crisis line, an emergency shelter, court advocacy, support groups, hospital accompaniment, emergency assistance, and education and outreach. All services are free and confidential, and they have served Belknap County since 1991.

The event, which was organized by Development VISTA Aileen Castillo, marked the organization’s 25th anniversary and helped raise awareness of the shelter and generate financial and volunteer support.

Guests and sponsors lindy-hopped to the 12-piece Scott Spradling Big Band, which set the mood of the roaring 20s; enjoyed a catered buffet; and bid on a silent auction. Those who showed up in their best retro attire won prizes for Most Festive Costume. New Beginnings also took time during the celebration to honor local leaders who work for victims of abuse by presenting the Debra P. Hasting Spirit of NH Award and the Margaret “Peg” Plumer Professional Service Award. Kathy Keller, Executive Director of New Beginnings, received the “Women of Distinction” award for her 20 years of service to the organization.

“The agents and staff at our Belmont office take pride in giving back to the community, which supports us so well,” said Jon Delmar, Regional Manager of Verani’s Belmont office.  “Part of our mission is to become a better company by bettering the lives of those in our community.  This event was a great opportunity for Verani Realty to contribute to those in need of the valuable services offered by New Beginnings.”

VeraniCARES engages agents and employees in philanthropy and social development by offering the opportunity to raise funds through donations. Verani Realty also matches a portion of each donation contributed by agents and employees. Learn more about VeraniCARES at verani.com.
